Portugal Wine & Culinary Escape
Porto · Douro Valley · Lisbon
November 18 – 24, 2026 · 7 Days · 8 Women
A fully hosted, slow-travel wine & culinary journey
Designed for depth over distance. Each day is intentionally paced to allow space for presence, connection, and enjoyment.
Portugal, savored slowly.
This is Portugal the Wander The Horizon way: boutique stays, unhurried mornings, and days built around wine, food, and the kind of cultural moments that stay with you.
We'll begin in Porto, where the Douro River glows at golden hour and port cellars tell stories in every sip. Then we'll slow down even more in the Douro Valley — terraced vineyards, river views, and long lunches that feel like a deep exhale. Finally, we'll end in Lisbon, where tiled streets, a twilight tuk tuk ride, and a farewell Fado dinner bring the journey full circle.
Structured activities are intentionally balanced with real breathing room — so you can rest, wander, and feel fully present.
Every detail is handled. All you have to do is show up.

Your Journey
Full Itinerary
Seven days of wine, culture, and connection — from Porto's riverside charm to Lisbon's soulful farewell.
Arrival in Porto
Your journey begins in the vibrant riverside city of Porto. Upon arrival at Porto Airport, private transportation will be waiting to bring you to your boutique hotel in the heart of the city. After check-in, take time to rest and settle into the rhythm of Portugal. In the evening, the group gathers for a welcome dinner, a relaxed introduction to the journey ahead. Over regional dishes and Portuguese wine, you'll begin to connect with your fellow travelers and ease into the shared experience of discovery.
Porto Wine, Culture and Cooking Experience
Wake to a slow morning in Porto before setting out mid-morning for a curated exploration of the city. Begin with the historic São Bento Railway Station, where intricate blue tiles tell stories of Portugal's past. Continue into the world of wine with a visit to Cálem Cellars for a guided tasting experience. The afternoon flows gently, with an optional Douro River cruise offering views of the iconic bridges and riverside neighborhoods of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. In the evening, take part in a hands-on Portuguese cooking experience. Learn traditional regional dishes, prepare them together, and enjoy a shared meal paired with local wine. This is an immersive cultural moment that brings the flavors of Portugal to life in a warm and intimate setting.
Into the Douro Valley
Today you leave the city behind and journey into the heart of the Douro Valley. A scenic drive includes a stop in the charming town of Amarante before continuing to a signature wine and lunch experience at Quinta da Pacheca, where vineyard landscapes stretch in every direction. After lunch and tasting, you settle into your vineyard hotel in the Douro Valley. The evening is quiet and restorative, designed to let the landscape and stillness of the region fully sink in.
Vineyards and River Views
The morning begins at an unhurried pace before heading to Quinta do Crasto for a wine tasting experience overlooking terraced vineyards above the Douro River. From there, the journey continues to Pinhão, where a boat cruise reveals the valley from the water. By mid afternoon, you return to your accommodation with time to relax, reflect, or simply enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.
Journey to Lisbon and Evening Tuk Tuk Experience
After a slow morning in the Douro Valley, you travel south toward Lisbon. The drive offers shifting landscapes as vineyards give way to rolling hills and coastal energy. Upon arrival in Lisbon around late afternoon, you check into your hotel and enjoy time to settle in, unwind, or explore nearby streets at your leisure. In the evening, experience Lisbon’s magic on a curated tuk tuk tour through Alfama and Praça do Comércio. As the city lights begin to glow, wind through narrow streets, scenic viewpoints, and historic quarters that reveal Lisbon’s layered character from a new perspective.
Lisbon Culture and Farewell Fado Dinner
Begin the day at your own pace. Enjoy a slow morning, café culture, boutique wandering, or quiet exploration of Lisbon’s neighborhoods. The afternoon is open for rest or personal discovery before regrouping in the evening for a farewell Fado dinner. This final gathering brings the group together for traditional Portuguese music, storytelling, and a meaningful closing moment to the journey.
Departure
After breakfast, private transportation will take you to Lisbon Airport for your departure. You leave with a deeper connection to Portugal, new friendships, and a collection of shared memories shaped by food, wine, and place.
*All itineraries are thoughtfully planned but may be adjusted due to local conditions and operational considerations.
