What to Pack for a Week-Long International Trip (Without Overpacking)

We've all been there, standing in front of a suitcase, wondering if we really need that third pair of sandals. The answer, almost always, is no. But packing smart doesn't mean packing boring. Here's our tried-and-true guide for women who want to travel light and still look fabulous.

The Golden Rule: Versatility Over Volume

Every item in your suitcase should work with at least two other items. Think neutral bases: a great pair of linen pants, a classic white tee, a lightweight wrap that doubles as a scarf, blanket, or beach cover-up.

The goal isn't to bring your entire closet. It's to bring a curated capsule that makes getting dressed the easiest part of your day.

Your 7-Day Packing Checklist

  • 3-4 tops (mix of casual and slightly dressy)
  • 2 bottoms (one pant, one skirt or shorts)
  • 1 versatile dress (works for dinner and daytime)
  • 1 lightweight jacket or cardigan
  • 1 swimsuit (if applicable)
  • Comfortable walking shoes + one pair of sandals
  • Undergarments for 4 days (you can wash as you go)
  • 1 large scarf/wrap (your secret weapon)
  • Sunhat and sunglasses
  • Small crossbody bag for daily exploring

Toiletries: Less is More

Invest in a good set of refillable travel bottles. Decant your favorite products into 3oz containers and leave the full-size bottles at home. Most hotels and riads provide shampoo and body wash, and if you're traveling with us, we make sure your accommodations have everything you need.

Don't forget: SPF is non-negotiable, a tinted lip balm does triple duty, and dry shampoo is your best friend on travel days.

The "Just in Case" Trap

Here's a packing truth bomb: if you're packing something "just in case," you probably don't need it. That formal gown? Leave it. The third pair of heels? Nope. The hair straightener? Your vacation hair is beautiful.

Pack for the trip you're actually taking, not the imaginary one where you attend a gala every evening. Trust us, the lighter your bag, the lighter your spirit.

Pro Tip: Leave Room for Souvenirs

One of the best parts of traveling is bringing home something meaningful: a hand-painted ceramic from Morocco, a leather journal from Italy, a piece of jewelry from Bali. If your suitcase is already bursting at the seams, you'll miss out.

Pack a foldable tote bag inside your luggage. It takes up zero space and gives you a whole extra bag for the treasures you'll find along the way.
